The Winter Matchplay is underway and it is now time to launch the Summer Matchplay 2010. The winners will go forward to the regional finals in September and compete for the opportunity to represent club and country in the World Final 2010.

The Summer Matchplay is open to all current golf club members who have a handicap issued by a CONGU affiliated golf club. The handicap limits are 24 for men and 32 for ladies but golfers with higher handicaps may enter and play off these limits. Pairs may be men, ladies or mixed and may even be made up of golfers from different golf clubs - although one club must be nominated as the pair's home club. Players must be a minimum of 16 years of age by 1st May 2010 and any pair consisting of two players less than 18 years of age must be accompanied by a responsible adult to all events.

The closing date for entries is 25th April 2010 when a draw will be made to group pairs into brackets of a maximum of 16 pairs. This draw will be made on a regional basis in order to minimise the travel required to play matches in the knockout stages. Each pair will be sent a copy of their draw by email by 29th April which will contain the names, golf clubs, handicaps and contact details of each of the 16 pairs in their bracket.

Play commences on 1st May and will consist of a maximum of four rounds of knockout matchplay to determine the winning pair from each bracket:
Round 1 to be played by 31st May 2010
Round 2 to be played by 30th June 2010
Round 3 to be played by 30th July 2010
Round 4 to be played by 30th August 2010

The winning pair from each bracket qualifies for one of the regional finals to be held throughout the UK in September 2010 where they will compete alongside the winners of the club qualifying events for the chance to represent their club at the National Finals, and subsequently their country at the International Pairs World Final 2010.

The cost per pair for entry into the Summer Matchplay is £30.00
