2007
Subsequent to the report below, Deen Graves and Martyn Ashcroft were disqualified from both the World Final in 2008 and the UK Final in 2007 due to irregularities in their qualification process . As a result, Elliott Briggs and Tom Woods from Howley Hall were promoted to International Pairs UK Champions 2007 and Andrew Richardson and Mike Greener from Woodham were promoted to International Pairs English Champions 2007.

Deen Graves and Martyn Ashcroft blew away the competition on the first day of the UK final at Carnoustie, amassing an astounding 45 points to be 5 points clear of the field at the halfway stage. They followed up with a steady 39 points in the final round to take the UK title by just two points from the youngest pair in the final - Elliott Briggs and Tom Woods from Howley Hall.

With almost all the groups in towards the end of day one, it was looking like a very tight contest for the UK title with eleven pairs within four shots of the lead, but that all changed when Deen and Martyn returned with 45 points from the second to last group out. An amazing score given the windy conditions faced by all the competitors on the Championship course.

With an overnight lead of five points the UK title was theirs to lose and although they weren't able to repeat their heroics of the previous day when the competition shifted to the Burnside course for the final round, they managed to do enough to hold on in the face of some stiff competition.

Sixteen year-olds Elliott Briggs and Tom Woods from Howley Hall claimed the English title by adding 43 points to their overnight 39 to finish second overall and Bonnybridge pair John Brown and Stephen Maxwell carded 45 points to storm through the field and finish alone in third on 80 points - also claiming the Scottish title.

The Welsh title went to father and son pair Bryan and Aled Williams who finished with a total of 73 - just a point ahead of their closest rivals, last year's UK champions Paul Johnson and Neil White from Llanwern, who put up a creditable defence of their title.

The line-up of qualifiers for the 2008 World Final was completed by Andrew Richardson and Mike Greener from Woodham and Roy Knowles and David Steel from Market Rasen.

These six pairs will return to Scotland in September 2008 to compete on the Dukes Course in St Andrews against the International Pairs champions from all other competing nations.
