To raise the interest in the game of golf Schools in Fife were invited to participate in letter writing, poster and badge designing competitions.
We believe that getting the
children involved with this years event will not only increase their awareness of
different countries of the world but give them the opportunity to promote St
Andrews and
St Monans, Pittenween, Kingsbarns, Cannongate, Wormit, Guardbridge and Dunbog Schools all participated in this years event. They sent us some outstanding entries that were all placed onto the International Pairs website for web browsers to vote on.
In the end the staff at International Pairs had to pick winners from the wonderful selection of entrants. It was a hard descision as there were many wonderful pieces of artwork and descriptive letters to choose from.
1st place winner of the Poster competition was Flora Anderson from St Monans school.

Dear Competitors
I Caitlin Glonek am writing to congratulate you on getting into the final of the International Pairs 08.
I hope you are looking forward to staying in the Rusacks Hotel as my mum works there. While your eating your breakfast you will get spectacular views of the Old Course and the West Sands.
If you would like to eat out, there are many different restaurants my favourite restaurant is West Post, my second one is little Johns.
There are also some good shops and one has been running for 15 to 16 years, Butler and company which is Indias Dads shop. There is also a shop called New Look where Cains mum works and it has all the fashions. Bonkers is a good gift shop and there are lots of other similar shops.
If you get bored sitting on your bed watching the small telly then you could start making your way to the New picture house.
If you would like to sample a drink of our Scottish whisky then you can go to any of the good pubs around for the golfers. I hope you enjoy your stay in St.Andrews and do well in the competition.
Yours Sincerly
C Glonek
