World's Largest Two-Person Golf Competition Tees Off In The Western United States
Tuesday, 13 May 2008

International Pairs, the world’s largest and fastest-growing two-person amateur golf competition, tees off in the Western United States to offer golfers a chance to represent Team USA at the World Finals in September at St. Andrews – all expenses paid!

With an initial launch in California, prominent private and public golf clubs such as The Olympic Club; The Meadow Club; Adobe Creek GC in Northern California and California CC; Old Ranch CC; and SeaCliff CC in Southern California, have already signed up to host this unique event.

Any golf club can participate and either incorporate the International Pairs’ competition into their existing Member/Member, Member/Guest, Men’s and Women’s Club tournaments or conduct a separate tournament to determine who will represent their club at the U.S. Finals at Quail Lodge Resort & Golf Club and a shot at a trip to the “Home of Golf” in Scotland.

“International Pairs has brought a unique event to the U.S. and provides our members a chance to compete for a spot in the U.S. Final and a chance to play St. Andrews against fellow golfers from around the world,” said Chris Stein, PGA Head Pro at The Olympic Club. “There are tournaments out there that can be quite complicated but I have found this to be the simplest I’ve been involved with and it’s all done at a very reasonable one-time cost without any additional fees as players advance.”

International Pairs is open to all golfers, men and women, having a USGA Index. The only registration fee is at the local tournament and can vary depending on the players participating but could be as low as $10 per golfer. The winning two-person team will then advance to play in the U.S. Finals, July 6-7, in Carmel, California, where they will be treated to the 18-hole championship round of golf; one-night accommodations; pairing/event dinner; and breakfast.

The victorious pair then jets off to St. Andrews to represent the U.S. in the World Finals, September 20-23. Both people receive round-trip airfare; three nights accommodations; meals and events; three rounds of golf, including the 36-hole championship round and memories to last a lifetime. It’s that simple!

Paving the fairways for International Pairs in the Western United States are Frank Samson and Jay Risher, who, combined, have over 50 years of successful business operations in the travel-industry. They will continue to grow the competition that started in the United Kingdom and is now being played in 30 countries with more than 100,000 golfers vying for a spot in the 5th annual World Finals.

“Frank and Jay’s entrepreneurial backgrounds in conjunction with International Pairs’ expanding tournament model has already proven to be the perfect combination with our growth plans in the United States,” said Ross Honey, Chairman and Tournament Director of International Pairs based in the United Kingdom.
